We will leave early from Quito to take the Panamericana northward, and after driving for about 1 hour and 30 minutes we'll reach the village of Cayambe.
Here, we'll have the opportunity to observe how the typical biscuits, which are very famous in this area, are made. We can also taste them with a hot chocolate or a cup of coffee. Continuing our journey in our vehicle, we'll arrive at the largest lake in this area, called San Pablo. We will have a beautiful view of the Imbabura volcano, from which the name of the province where the Otavalo indigenous community is located originates.
Afterwards, we will continue to the poncho and craft market where we will have approximately 2 hours to make our purchases. Later, we will drive about 30 minutes to reach a viewpoint where we have a restaurant for our lunch, and from where we can observe the beautiful Cuicocha Lagoon. In the afternoon, we will return to the town of Cotacachi, which is a village where handmade and leather crafts are made. Finally, we will return to Quito, with the drive taking approximately 2 hours until we reach our respective hotel.
